Using the Database Server has only a minimal impact in most situations when running Empress. However, there are certain implications to consider when using the Database Server, such as Empress functions that cannot use the server.
Most accesses to an Empress database will be carried out transparently by the server. However, not all Empress functions may be run via the Database Server. Functions that create, remove, rename or directly access a database directory cannot use the Database Server.
The following functions can be run using the Database Server:
